Christening in Leros

I am not a religious man but I do have this weird, strong, uncanny connection with the “Παναγιά του Κάστρου” the “Castle Holy Mother” church as the locals in Leros refer to it.

Built within the medieval castle, common to the islands of the Dodecanese, perched on top of the highest hill, the church is a haven of serenity, beauty and craftmanship. When it came to christening our youngest son we did not think twice -it was off to the Castle in Leros and it was truly an experience unlike any other – from the breathtaking views all around, to the temple’s unique sense of self and purpose.

I am grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
